High-yielding, leading-edge technology
Würth Solar employs about 200 people and was founded in 1999 with the aim of establishing Europe's first commercial manufacturing system for CIS modules in order to develop the still new, promising solar technology to the stage where the products could be built in serial production.

In autumn 2006, Würth Solar started the first large-scale series production of its GeneCIS solar modules worldwide at its CISfab factory in Schwäbisch Hall, Germany which was specially built for this purpose.

GeneCIS modules have outstanding energy yields and, because of their visual appeal, they also offer completely new possibilities for architectural design.

Würth Solar handles sales and service through its own staff and also through a network of specially trained and certified service partners.
From development and production of GeneCIS solar modules, customer-specific consultation, advice and planning of the solar installation, through to its installation and continuous service, we offer our customers everything from one single source.

Special service packages give you the security of knowing that your solar installation will remain efficient and economical in the long term. As well as pure module technology and complete photovoltaic installations with GeneCIS solar power modules, we also offer solutions for individual needs, such as in the field of architecture. 

Continuous progress
CIS technology is based on a compound of copper, indium and selenium. Compared to the largely mature silicon technology, experts see great development potential for this technology in the future in terms of product properties and production technology.

Consequently, it qualifies as one of the solar technologies that will play a major role in the energy mix of the future. We are consistently and continuously further developing our GeneCIS solar modules and our production processes.

Our research and development company, Würth Elektronik Research, which was established specifically for the purpose, is already working today on the solutions for tomorrow.
